Toledo Rotary’s Response to SNAP Benefits

Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program or SNAP is the largest anti-hunger program in the United States, designed to help low-income families supplement their food budget and afford nutritious meals. One of Rotary International’s seven areas of focus is maternal and child health. This includes preventing the impacts of malnutrition. In light of the impending cessation of SNAP benefits in the United States, the Rotary Club of Toledo seeks to assist those who will be impacted. Thus, the Club encourages its members and partner organizations to dedicate their time, talent and treasure to those who are food insecure. This may include volunteering your time or making a donation of money or food to a food pantry or food pack organization. Local food banks include Toledo Northwest Ohio Food Bank, SeaGate Food Bank and Food for Thought. There are numerous other local food banks in our community that can be supported. Toledo Rotary also intends to provide a one-time emergency grant to a local organization providing food assistance to those in need during this loss of SNAP benefits. The recipient(s) must have been previously funded by either the Toledo Rotary Foundation or Rotary District 6600.
