You have been invited to a Monday luncheon of the Rotary Club of Toledo. Here is everything you need for your first visit — where to park, where to go, and how the hour runs. We are glad you are coming.
Getting here and checking in
- 1Park in the Glass City Center parking garage. The garage entrance is at the intersection of St. Clair St. and Monroe St. Green “Ballroom” signs hang in the garage to point you the right way.
- 2Take your parking ticket with you. It will be validated when you sign in for lunch, so keep it handy.
- 3There is an elevator at the building entrance, near where you come in from the garage. Take the elevator or the stairs up to floor 2.
- 4Greeters are on floor 2. Please check in at the greeters’ table, where you will be given a temporary name tag. (Members carry badges they scan to log their own attendance.)
Garage entrance: St. Clair St. & Monroe St., Toledo, OH 43604
Lunch
Lunch is provided for your first visit. There is nothing to pay and nothing to arrange.
If you would like to come to more meetings before applying for membership, we ask that you cover your own lunch. The Glass City Center is cashless, so please purchase ahead of time on our website: $20 with lunch, or $5 to attend the meeting without eating.
Lunch is served buffet style. Water is on every table in the ballroom; coffee and tea are at the back of the room.
How the hour runs
Please be seated by 12:00 noon — the meeting starts promptly.
| 12:00 | The president rings the Rotary bell and calls the meeting to order. |
|---|---|
| Opening | Everyone stands for a reflection, the Pledge of Allegiance, and often the recitation of the Four Way Test. Just follow along — no one expects you to know it. |
| Guests | Rotarians introduce their guests. You and the Rotarian who invited you will step to the floor mic together, and they will introduce you with your name and your place of work and title. You do not need to prepare anything or speak. |
| Speaker | A presentation, then a short time for questions. |
| 1:00 | The president closes the meeting and everyone is free to go on their way. |
A Rotarian is simply a member of Rotary.
What exactly is Rotary?
A Rotary Club is a local chapter of Rotary International, a global service organization. It brings together local business, professional, and community leaders to perform humanitarian service, build goodwill, and foster friendships. Members—known as Rotarians—meet regularly to network, listen to speakers, and plan volunteer projects. Toledo Rotary is one of the largest clubs in the United States.
If you would like to join
The member application is quite simple.
- Visit a Monday Luncheon and see if the Rotary Club of Toledo interests you.
- Determine if you are interested in an Individual Membership, or a Corporate Membership.
- Complete an application, including a short bio and professional photo.
- The Club board meets on a monthly basis to review applications and approve new memberships. Upon approval, the prospective member is invoiced for Club dues. Paying by credit card does incur a service charge; paying by check mailed to the Rotary Office will not. You will see this notated on the invoice.
- Once you have paid the entrance fee and dues, you will be formally introduced at a Monday meeting.
Or just ask the Rotarian who invited you — they are glad to help.
