Wendi Huntley - Childhood Hunger in Our Community: A Silent Epidemic

Wendi serves as the Interim CEO for Connecting Kids To Meals, Inc. (formerly Feed Lucas County Children, Inc.) which is a nonprofit organization that provides hot, nutritious meals to children throughout the entire year. Prior to this role, she served as Director of Development. The organization serves healthy meals during the summer months as well as to kids enrolled in after school programming during the academic year. She is responsible for leading the organization, and also handles the fundraising, community engagement, marketing, and brand management initiatives for Connecting Kids To Meals.

From early 2011 through fall of 2015, Wendi served as the Regional Director for the NW Office of Children’s Hunger Alliance located in Toledo, OH. Children’s Hunger Alliance is a statewide agency with a mission to ensure that all children are fed nutritious meals on a regular basis, and develop lifelong healthy eating habits.

Wendi is not just experienced in non-profit management, but also is an accomplished attorney who has 25 years of experience in the areas of corporate, estate planning, intellectual property as well as sports and entertainment law. She worked as an Associate at Bricker & Eckler, LLP in Columbus, Ohio for nearly 12 years, and has since 1998 served as the President and CEO of The SPEC Group, Ltd., a consulting firm that represents athletes, entertainers, small businesses and nonprofit organizations. Wendi was an agent certified with the National Football League, National Basketball Association, Women’s National Basketball Association as well as US Track and Field for several years. She has provided guidance to athletes located in the U.S. and abroad, and has assisted with the establishment of some of their foundations, negotiated endorsement deals as well as planned a wide array of events.

Wendi was born and raised in Toledo. She is a graduate of Notre Dame Academy and earned her undergraduate degree from Bowling Green State University while a 4-year letter winner on the Women’s Basketball team. She then graduated with her Juris Doctorate from The Ohio State College of Law in Columbus, Ohio. Over the years, Wendi has served on several Boards and volunteered her tim ein connection with community-related endeavors.
