District 6600 Governor Carolyn Huston

Carolyn joined the Lorain Rotary Club in December 1999.  She served on several committees and was the club treasurer for 12 years before becoming the club’s 2015-16 President.  She is a 5 year+ member of the Paul Harris Society and is a Major Donor to the Rotary Foundation.  Carolyn is a graduate of the Rotary Leadership Institute and has facilitated classes in Districts 6630, 6650. She is pleased to be bringing the program back to District 6600 during her year as Governor.

Carolyn has served on the Foundation Committee in the administration of district grants.  In 2014-15 she chaired the Annual Program Fund (EREY) subcommittee and has done multiple Polio Plus programs to clubs.  She is an active member of MESA and has attended six Uniendo Project Fairs in Central America.  In January of 2015 Carolyn participated in a pilot program for MESA in the Morazan State in Honduras.  The program sought to organize local clubs to determine the needs of medical clinics in their areas. MESA has successfully organized four clubs to participate and work as an organization with MESA.

Carolyn is involved with her community.  She is an alumnus of the Leadership Lorain County program.  She served for six years on the Advisory Board of the Women’s Fund at the Community Foundation of Lorain County – first as Treasurer and then as Co-chair.  She served for three years on the board of Genesis House/Lorain County Safe Harbor (Lorain County’s domestic violence shelter).  Ten years ago, she founded the Genesis House Pajama Party which is held every January to raise awareness of Genesis House and is also a major source of donations for the shelter.  After the death of their son Brian in December of 2016, Carolyn and her family established the Brian Huston Fund at the Community Foundation of Lorain County.  Brian was a firm believer in rescue animals, so his fund was set up to benefit non-profit organizations that care for and help find homes for rescue dogs.  In September each year her sisters have created the Brian Huston Memorial Dog Walk and all money raised goes into the fund.

Carolyn retired in January 2019 after 34 years employment as CFO of Superior Electric Supply in Elyria.

She holds a bachelor’s degree with a dual major in Accounting and Business Management.  She and her husband Bob of 47 years reside in Amherst.  They are the proud parents of four and have five grandchildren.

Carolyn is honored to serve as the District Governor for 2019-20.
