WWI 100th Anniversary
Veterans Day originated as “Armistice Day” on Nov. 11, 1919, the first anniversary of the end of World War I. Congress passed a resolution in 1926 for an annual observance, and Nov. 11 became a national holiday beginning in 1938. Veterans Day pays tribute to all American veterans—living or dead—but especially gives thanks to living veterans who served their country honorably during war or peacetime. November 11, 2018 is the 100th anniversary of the end of WWI .
Psallite, Latin for “sing”, is a group founded by Jeff Bunke. Along with his band mates, Omaldo Perez and Cheryl Babb, they will sing songs of the WWI era. This Perrysburg group, has received rave reviews in concerts over the last two years, and they have started a program for students on Thursday evenings at BGSU. Several members of the group Psallite are either BG faculty or alumni.
To all of our Veterans, thank you for your service!
