Rachel Hepner-Zawodny - American Red Cross

The American Red Cross- A Story about their mission and how they are directly impacting our community every day.

Rachel Hepner Zawodny will be speaking primarily about what the American Red Cross’s direct lines of service are, what they mean to everyone in the community, and how we can work together to be more prepared and resilient as a community.

Mrs. Hepner-Zawodny is the Executive Director of the Northwest Ohio Chapter of the American Red Cross serving, Lucas, Wood, Ottawa and Sandusky counties. Prior to taking this position 2 years ago, Mrs. Hepner-Zawodny spent almost ten years in the glass business working for Pilkington Architectural and Seattle based company Technical Glass Products. After completing Leadership Toledo in 2005, Rachel was asked to be on the Board of Directors for the local chapter of the American Red Cross. It was there she found a profound passion for the mission and stayed active for an additional 10 years; serving as Board Chair prior to accepting the Director position. She has served on board and committees for the Arthritis Foundation, Leadership Toledo, Heartbeat of Toledo and Family Services of NW Ohio. She holds a bachelor of Fine Arts Degree with a Design focus from Bowling Green State University where she also played varsity tennis.  Rachel lives in Perrysburg with her husband Jim, daughter Stella (5), son Harrison (18mos) and dog Mulligan.
