The 100 year history of Toledo’s Camp Miakonda and the early years of Toledo Rotary’s support of Scouting which started over 100 years ago.

David Eby joined Scouting in 1962 and has served in numerous capacities since then. He was appointed the Erie Shores Council historian in Toledo sixteen years ago as well as the curator for the Camp Miakonda Scouting Museum. He has written numerous historical articles for some national Scouting Collector magazines. He recently uncovered the rarest merit badge collection in the nation that previously was not known to still exist. He is a graduate of Wayne State University and served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War. Dave was a ground crew member of the SR-71 spy plane for three years and was stationed in Korea for one year. He is a life member of a number of veterans organizations and has been writing historical articles for the Monroe Evening News for twenty years about area veterans who served in combat areas. The latest one, which will be published on Memorial Day, is about one of the survivors of the USS Indianapolis sinking in WWII.

Dave is married with three sons, and retired from the financial services industry four years ago. He has traveled to all fifty states and about twenty five countries and winters each year in Arizona.
